The New Zealand Ayrshire Association (Inc), known as Ayrshire New Zealand, is an Incorporated Society representing approx 380 Ayrshire breeders in New Zealand. The offices of Ayrshire New Zealand are located in Hamilton (central North Island) at the site of Livestock Improvement Corporation. The office is staffed Monday to Friday and members and visitors are always welcome to call at the office.
The Association is divided into 9 wards geographically, each ward represented by a Director. The Board of Directors is headed by the President. Ayrshire New Zealand is also the parent body to 16 Ayrshire clubs nationwide. An annual Meeting is held each year in June at varying locations. All members are invited to attend.
CANADIAN YOUTH PROGRAM
Ayrshire Canada have extended an invitation for one youth from each country of the World Ayrshire Federation to attend the AGM and a special youth program. They are looking for individuals between 18 and 30 years of age who are passionate about farming and the Ayrshire breed. The organizing committee will look after all expenses in Canada (hotel, meals, transportation within Canada etc.) but not the cost of the airline ticket to travel to Canada. This trip will take place from Sunday, March 8th, 2009 (arrival of delegates) to Sunday, March15th, 2009. Youth delegates will spend part of the time with host families and part of the time in hotels. The main activities will be as follows: Delegates will meet with government, agribusiness companies and Dairy Farmers of Canada. Tour of an agricultural college and organic dairy farm. Delegates will participate in the all the activities of the Ayrshire Canada AGM. Farm visits, social activities, conferences and each dlegate will have 5 - 10 minutes for a presentation on Ayrshire farming in their contry. Delegates will participate in the preparation and presentation of animals for the sale held during the AGM.
A partial subsidy for travel will be available from Ayrshire New Zealand for the selected candidate. Expressions of interest should be made to Pam Allison at the Ayrshire New Zealand office after 12 January 2009. but before 23 January 2009 as the selection needs to be made prior to the end of January.
