Competed for in 2012/13 season at Waikato Royal Show, Friday 26 October 2012. Entrants nominated by Ayrshire Clubs.
The World Wide Sires All Breeds Young Judge Competition will take place at the NZ Dairy Event, Feilding, 30 Jan - 1 Feb 2013.
CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION
Open to people 30 years of age or under as at the 1st October each year, who are a member or son/ daughter or employee of a member of the New Zealand Ayrshire Association. Any entrant who has reached the age of 20 must be a Senior or Associate member of Ayrshire New Zealand.
Up to six finalists will come together at the Royal Show where the final will be judged. In the event of more than six contestants preliminaries may be held at the discretion of the Organising Committee.
Wards are to conduct their own eliminations to reduce numbers applying to rule two.
Prize – A trip to a major Australian dairy Show of the winner’s choice to the value of $1,000 sponsored by New Zealand Ayrshire Association. The prize is to be claimed within 18 months of the competition.
The Competition Organising Committee is Messrs. B A Hutchings (Convenor), G Glentworth, A Thomson, K A Eade and S B Donald.
The format for judging Preliminaries and Finals is to be set by the Board/Organising Committee.
RULES OF INTEREST TO CANDIDATES
Competitors will judge a class of 5 cows
Competitors are to have 10 minutes to complete judging (or if judged singly 7 minutes).
Master Judges – Two Senior Judges will be appointed. Points: Placings 35; Reasons 30 ; Speed 10 ; Ringcraft, Manner and Personal Appearance 10 ; Verbal Presentation 15 .
If less than three candidates enter, the competition for the year will be cancelled.

Two competitors per breed.
The Board/Organising Committee has the right to nominate these competitors. In normal circumstances the first two placegetters of the Ayrshire Young Judge Competition each year would go forward to the All Breed Junior Judges Competition.
